If you are looking for a lovely silk satin brocade Chinese evening coat, look no further! This full length coat is made from beautiful golden (with a slight tint of green) silk material with so many attractive features. There are floating green, pink and blue Chrysanthemums as well as black bees and Chinese symbols woven into the brocade material. The sleeves have a rolled up cuff that is top stitched to look like quilting and when rolled up make the sleeves elbow length. There are deep slits on each side of the coat and the coat closes with five frog closures that are made from the brocade material. There’s a mandarin collar and two pockets on each side of the front panels of the evening coat. These kidney shaped pockets are exquisitely detailed with the same stitching that emulates quilting. There are darts just above the bust area on the front panels that run just under and adjacent to a pretty stitched front panel on either side of the opening. A close up of this detail can be seen in one of the photos. The coat is lined in pale pina colada green acetate material. This late 1960s-early 1970s evening coat is spectacular and will add elegance as well as sparkle to any evening affair.
Condition: Very Good
There are several areas that have faint staining. On the front right panel just above the hemline, there are areas that look as if something spilled on the coat. These are not very noticeable because they are at the bottom of the coat…..one spot is actually right on the hemline edge. These areas are on the outside silk material. On the inside lining of the left panel at the center of the bottom there is a brownish drop that looks also like a spill. This cannot be seen on the outside of the coat. In the center of the neck area just under the tag and loop, there is an area that looks like it might have been residue from adhesive, possibly from a price tag. And, at the mandarin collar, the frog that is on the right panel has a slight brownish stain. Again, this looks like it came from a spill. This appears darker in the photos than it actually appears in person. The coat, otherwise is very clean and in nice wearable condition. These stains may come out when professionally cleaned.
