This classic genuine leather 1970s coat made by Etienne Aigner is the color that we most often associate with items made under this label. I have always called this rich burgundy color, Cordovan, but it’s also known as Oxblood and just plain Maroon. Regardless of what the iconic color is called, it has retained it’s popularity since Etienne Aigner was established in 1959, as well as the fine materials that are used in the items that bear their signature horseshoe “A”. This leather jacket closes with one round burgundy plastic button and has two flap pockets one on each side. On the left upper side of the coat there is a small patch pocket. There is a notched 3 ½” lapel. At the bottom of each cuff there are three small round burgundy buttons that are not functional. The jacket is beautifully seamed both front and back giving it a nice shape….not boxy. Fully lined with burgundy acetate that has a satin finish and the Etienne Aigner signature printed in gold tone multiple times across the lining. All of the pockets are lined with the same material. The shoulders are slightly padded. There are two extra buttons attached to the inner left side of the coat just in case you should lose one of the small ones on the cuff or the larger one that fastens the jacket. The hip length of the jacket is comfortable and attractive. And, the style and quality of this jacket is timeless. Just to prove that point, it was so interesting for me to have a friend visit just recently and what was she wearing but an Etienne Aigner jacket that was almost just like this one that is listed here. She said she had purchased it in the 70s and it still looked great! I found that to be a true testament to the durability of the fine materials that were used in Etienne Aigner’s quality creations.
Condition: Very Good
This jacket almost appears to have never been worn. There is one small dot on the left collar. I have no idea what could have caused it, but it is small and not noticeable unless you are actually looking for it. Otherwise, this coat is exceptionally clean and even still retains the smell of new leather.
