Here’s a wonderful vintage muff made from sheared rabbit fur. These fashionable muffs were made to simulate leopard fur by printing a spotted pattern on rabbit fur. This dainty round muff is lined on the inside with a coppery brown satin around the openings and a more brown lining on the inside. There is a satin string on one side to slip over your hand so you don’t lose your sweet muff! And, oh yes, there is a zippered pocket compartment on the inside so that you can carry your most necessary items without anyone even suspecting that they are in your muff! How convenient!
The background fur is cream colored and the spots have golden centers with dark brown outlines. Muffs from the 1950s were not as large as the muffs from the 1940s. And, although this vintage muff is small, I think it’s just the right size to carry as a stylish accessory while keeping your hands nice and toasty on a chilly Winter day!
Condition: Very Good
For the most part this vintage muff is in nice condition, but it does have a few minor issues. One can be seen quite well in most of the photos and that’s some spots on the satin loop. These spots appear to be lighter in the photos and are actually gray color when seen in person. As mentioned in the description, the material around the openings is lighter than the inner material. I believe this change in the color of the lining has occurred from aging and not from soiling. This is not very noticeable as the darker brown material is on the inside. The lighter coppery brown can be seen and really looks quite attractive with the printed rabbit fur. Finally, there is some very slight soiling around the openings. Again, this is minimal and can barely be seen especially when the muff is being worn.
