Here’s a wonderful black and white wool Herringbone tweed sport coat from the 1970s that does that 30s Norfolk Style proud! The coat has such great detail that I hope can be seen in the photos. The front of the jacket has 4” wide notch lapels with nice top stitching and there flap pockets on each side of the front of the garment. The belted style of this sport coat is apparent both on the front and the back. There are two functional buttons on the belt at the front of the coat as well as three more buttons that close the jacket. At the bottom of each sleeve there are three small round buttons that are not functional. All of the buttons used on this coat appear to be made to look like leather that has been painted black. The buttons could be a composite material. It’s difficult to tell. There are some areas on the buttons that look like they are brown underneath the black. The buttons are molded to look like they have stitching around the outer edge. All button holes are well finished. As you can see from the photos, the coat is partially lined at the shoulders and on each side of the front panels with steel gray synthetic material and all inner seams are nicely finished with no raw edges visible. The inside of the sleeves are fully lined with the same gray satin material and there is a single vent on the back of the coat. This is a marvelous vintage sport coat from the 70s that would be quite stylish for today’s country gentleman!
Condition: Very Good
The outside of this jacket is in great condition with very little visible wear. There are no moth holes and the coat bears a dry cleaning label from the previous owner. The only issue to note is a small one and appears only on the inner lining at the shoulders. There are thin linear rust stains and small holes that were obviously caused by a metal coat hanger. This is not visible on the outside of the jacket at all.
