This fabulous laminated geometric half-round striped bakelite brooch is circa 1930s.
Inspired by the Paris Exposition's "Art Deco" designs, and later by the "Art Moderne" movement, these geometric pieces were popular across Europe and America.
At the time, they sold in better department stores for the price of a good dress!
The geometric pieces were bonded stripe to stripe with a liquid phenolic resin and glue, then tumbled and polished as a single unit.
This brooch measures approximately 1 1/2" x 1 1/2", and is 5/8" thick at the thickest point.
The brooch is in very good vintage condition, with little sign of wear. The pin back has been replaced.
