Offered for your consideration is a vintage pair of Los Castillos "married metals" salt and pepper shakers.
Circa 1950s, these shakers represent the zenith of metal working and jewelry making in Taxco, Mexico.
The technique of "marrying" different metals in a single piece is attributed to Chato Castillo, one of the finest designers of the era.
The shakers are constructed of sterling silver, brass and copper, and measure about 1 1/2" in height and about 3/4" in diameter.
The pair weighs approximately 35.5 grams--see photo.
The shakers are hallmarked, "JHP", "Taxco" and "METALES CASADOS" on the bottom.
The pair is in very good vintage condition, with some oxidation in the salt shaker, and a rich patina, consistent with age.
