American butter knife having a Mother of Pearl handle and a coin silver blade by Tift and Whiting of North Attleboro Massachusetts, c.1860.
This attractive and useful knife is 6 3/4" long and weighs 37 grams or 1.2 ozs. Troy. It has the Tift & Whiting #3 Die Mark.
Monogrammed on the blade, on the opposite side of the maker's mark, in ornate, period script EPM, the excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
The soft, warm, original antique finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
