English Victorian sterling silver footed mustard pot, having hinged lid with figural finial and thick shaped handle. The body is decorated with engraved floral garlands and lid is accented with tiny patterns. Made by Hilliard & Thomason, Birmingham, 1841. The hallmarks are partially rubbed.
This splendid pot is 1 1/2" in diameter, 3 1/2" tall (including the finial) and weighs 50.3 grams or 1.62 ozs Troy.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
