American sterling silver centerpiece bowl by Tiffany and Co Silversmiths, pattern number 15484A, having a double plated, silver soldered liner pattern number 15484 and a wire work silver plated frog. The Art Nouveau pattern dates from 1902. The bowl has the script m date mark, the liner has the C mark and the frog is unmarked. The date of the piece is most likely 1906 - 1907.
The wide, undulating rim is decorated with applied floral and open work vine decorations and the body rests on a wide, stepped pedestal base.
The liner has attached rings and the wire and strap work frog has curved wire feet.
This fabulous centerpiece bowl is 13" in diameter across the rim, 7" in diameter inside the liner, 4 1/2" tall to the top of the frog and weighs a total of 1677 grams. The bowl weighs 1083 grams, the liner weighs 392 grams and the frog weighs 202 grams.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
