George III era English sterling silver pair of open salt dishes in form of a bathtub, standing on 4 applied ball feet and decorated with applied ornate border. Interior is gilt. Both pieces have an engraved crest on the side, featuring Hand Holding a Dirk and ribbon above it, bearing the motto "Man Do It". Made by Alice and George Burrows, London, 1815.
These outstanding salts are 3 5/8" long, 3" wide and 1 3/4" tall, weighing a total 150.5 grams or 4.85 ozs Troy.
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
