English Victorian era silver plated jewelry basket, featuring excellent finish, c. 1875. It has semicylinder form body with hinged lid and lock, mounted onto frame with figural urn decorations on the sides and 4 ball feet. Lid is decorated with engraved foliate and scroll patterns as well as attached figure of a lion with shield. On the shield, there is an engraved crest, featuring hand with sword above the crowned star.
This intricate glorious basket is 6 3/4" long, 3 3/4" wide, 1 7/8" deep, 4 3/4" wide from foot to foot and 4 1/4" tall (without the finial).
The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.
