Winter bonnet from the Victorian era.
Fashioned of cotton velvet in a sienna brown.
The back panel has hand smocking. The piece is entirely hand stitched with piped seams. The styling is filled with Victorian artistry. The piece is lined with wool and trimmed with silk ribbon. Possibly could have been a skating bonnet. A rare and lovely piece.
Color: sienna brown
Content: cotton velvet, wool lining, silk ribbon smocking and trim
Condition: Very good condition. This bonnet is very strong. There is no shatter in the silk and the velvet is fine. The lower edge shows shatter to the piping and hence the white cotton of the piping interior shows there. The ribbon ties and bow does have shatter issues. The bonnet itself, and the lining are excellent.
Age: Victorian era
Size: This bonnet is adult sized but for a small head. It is shown on my smallest head mannequin, about 20" around and it is tight. So plan to be smaller than that.
