Fresh to the market from an extensive collection of antique candy containers is this exceptional pair of German St. Patrick's Day paper mache candy containers. The figures are of an Irish girl and boy; it is difficult to say whether they are paper mache, composition, or bisque. Both figures are solid. Each stands on a cardboard box and can be lifted to reveal a small area for storing candy. It appears the bottoms had crepe paper at one time so it's difficult to see any markings; there appears to be the remnants of a Germany stamp on the bottom of the girl. The girl is 3 7/8 inches tall, the boy 3 3/4. There's some wear to the cardboard boxes and a few areas of missing paint (please see the pictures for condition), but this is truly a rare pair of candy containers and would make excellent additions to a collection.
