Done before 1900, this old gameboard has backgammon on one side and checkers on the opposite side; it's large, measuring 21 by 22 1/2 inches and framed using old nails. The backgammon spikes and the checkers squares are outlined which portends its age and the care that was taken in its making. The black paint of the frame and center piece is worn and rubbed; there are scuffs to the surface on both sides. The paint is old, original, and dry with crazing you'd expect in a piece this age. A hanger was added at some time on the checkers side. Though the wood has worn at the edges of the frame, the game board is solid and ready for a new home.
