These wonderful children's toys were often referred to as Sunday Toys because they were special and only allowed to be played with on Sundays. This flat bottom ark is probably German. It is 8 1/2 inches long and 4 1/2 inches tall. The ark was found with 22 hand carved and painted animals, many of them pairs and quite a few unique to the animals often accompanying the arks. There's a little wear to the animals as is often found. I can't say for sure but it appears the ark has been refurbished to some extent. The roof has a texture to it and the cloth hinges usually found on top have been replaced with newer cloth on the inside which doesn't allow the roof to open as wide as it would have otherwise.; the original hook and eye latch is present.
