Pair of late 19th century mirrored brass sconces depicting the joining of two royal houses on the crest. The woman is English as symbolized by the oak leaves and acorns. The gentleman may be French as there are plumes and a floral motif on that side. The frame is done in a stylized continuation of the acorn and plume theme. At the bottom there are four candle holders surrounded by further heraldic imagery - griffons on either side with a ribbon motif bracketing the central panel. The mirrors are beveled and held in by a brass plate on the back. Overall length including candle holders is 18 1/2". Overall width at bottom including candle holders is 12 1/2" by 6 1/2 deep. Frame with the mirror is 8 1/2" wide. Good condition, though some mirror blemishing in corners, and one or two fine scratches.
