A gorgeous antique Majolica plate that dates to the Victorian era. The plate features three central leaves that come from a single stem, and around it are small blossoming flowers. The flowers are delicately painted yet the pattern is bold- this plate is a rare find, especially for its condition. The plate measures 7-3/4 inches and is unmarked at the base. It has a lovely sponged pattern glaze on the base is a red-brown color. The front rim of the plate is yellow, natural colors dominate the design on this plate. Lots of earthy colors make this dish a superb decorative piece.
This is a Victorian plate, circa 1890, so crazing on the glaze is to be expected and only adds character. There are no chips to the edge of the plate, nor wear. Majolica is a low fire hand-painted glaze on earthenware pottery so it is to be handled carefully. A beautiful dish for any home! Perfect for desert, a small bite, or even as a decorative piece on the wall.
