This DeVez Cameo vase is a beautiful depiction of blooming poppies. The background color of the vase is a matte white that fades to a lovely yellow, also matte. The flowers and leaves that encircle the vase are shiney pinkish red. The combination of a simple glass form with the three colors and the cameo work is stunning.
It is in perfect condition having no chips, cracks or nicks. It is 5 1/4" tall x 3" at it's widest point 1 1/2" at the base with the vase opening being 1 1/8".
Between 1909 and 1914, under the directorship of Camille Tutre de Varreux, the factory at Pantin produced acid-etched cameo glass signed "DeVez". Multiple layers of colored glass were acid-etched with natural decorations such as florals, landscapes, river views, animals and birds, and popular Art Nouveau designs of the period.
