A gorgeous opalescent glass vase by Rene Lalique in the Moissac pattern. This vase measures 5-1/2 inches tall by almost 6 inches at the diameter, opening, and 3 inches at the footed base. What makes this a rare Lalique piece is the foot that the vase rests on. The opalescent glass is luminous and the repeated and stylized pattern of cascading leaves has superb depth and texture. This pattern was produced by Lalique around 1927, featuring some elements that were in style during that time, such as organic forms with more angular abstract edges.
At the height of his career in 1925, Lalique exhibited his works at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Moderns in Paris and with these he came to define the Art Deco style. This piece is a fine example of Art Deco and it is a quintessentially Lalique glass art piece. Model 992; in perfect condition. Signed at base (on the foot of vase). This vase would make a lovely gift for any Lalique appreciator.
