A beautiful Tiffany Favrile Art Glass Salt Cellar. It has a graceful ruffled of scalloped upper edge that undulates in an organic manner. The vibrant gold iridescent glass body is stunning with highlights of purple, blue and green.
The condition of this glass piece is very good to excellent, with no chips and only faint wear to the Favrile surface.
The salt cellar measures 7/8" high and 2 5/8" in diameter. It is Signed L.C.T. on the bottom. It can be used as a salt cellar or alternatively as a container for small personal and delicate items.
This lovely salt is pictured on page 22, Illustration #42 of the book The Open Salt Compendium" by Sandra Jzyk & Nina Robertson. "Favrile" glass was patented by Louis Comfort Tiffany in 1894. This is an excellent piece of glass work by Tiffany's, an item not to be missed for a collection.
