Kirk & Son Sterling Silver Repousse Pattern Cocktail Fork
This is a lovely Kirk & Son sterling silver cocktail fork in the Rose pattern. Stieff Rose was patented in 1892, the same year the company was founded. The company was originally known as The Baltimore Sterling Silver Company. In 1904 the name was changed to The Stieff Company. Stieff Rose was originally known just as Rose. Stieff was added to the name when the company merged with Kirk to differentiate between this Rose & a Rose already made by Kirk. Stieff Rose is very similar to a pattern made by Kirk, known as Repousse.
This fork is approximately 5 1/2” long and 3/4’s of an inch at its widest point. It is a three tine fork that sways out at the tips. On the back of the handle is the Kirk & Son maker’s mark alongside the sterling silver stamp. This piece weighs approximately 21.5 grams.
