This is a fun Gilbert Match Safe circa 1890. It is decorated front and back with a repossession sea creature with scrolls coming out of it's mouth, the top of the match safe has a shell ornament.. It is in very good condition with good hinge action and nominal wear. There is no monogram, the inside edge is marked with Sterling and a G for Gilbert. This handsome match safe is 2 1/8" long, 1 3/8" wide and weighs 22 grams.
