This is a beautiful sterling silver English vesta case made in 1901 in Birmingham by William Hair Haseler. It is a great size and has curve to it's body to fit into ones pocket. Half the case is covered in very fine chased engraving of ivy leaves to both sides. There is a heavy ring on the side to suspend the case from a chain. The inside edge is stamped with the lion passant, the anchor for Birmingham and the date 'b' for 1901. The case is in excellent condition with a good hinge mechanism and alignment. Dimensions are : 1 7/8" in length, and 1 1/2" wide and 1/2" in depth. Weight is a solid 27 grams.
