A lovely stick pin made in 14 karat gold that features the Irish symbol of friendship, or claddagh. The claddagh features a heart, which symbolizes love, and the crown above the heart expresses eternal loyalty and devotion.
The old Irish legend states the claddagh was created by a kidnapped man enslaved in the town of Claddagh. While he was captive, he spent his days crafting a ring from a piece of stolen gold. His ring featured this very design. Eventually he returned home to present his ring to his loved one.
The pin weighs 1.6 grams and measures 2.5 inches. It has markings on the back and tests to 14 karats of gold. The hands and heart have been hand-crafted beautifully, and this piece is not only a beautiful celtic symbol but also an incredible miniature piece of art with a legend. The stick of the pin is sturdy and has a twist design that adds charm to the piece. Circa 1890. In great condition for its age.
This pin is the perfect gift for a friend!
