Signed Talavera Mexico Folk Art Hand-Painted Clay Pottery Trinket Box or Jewelry Treasure Chest or Trinket Box
This handcrafted, vintage folk art Mexican pottery was most likely a souvenir from a trip to Puebla, Mexico. It appears to be a charming example of Talavera pottery, a majolica type of earthenware derived from this region. They are best known for their quality clay and Spanish/Mexican tradition of pottery making that dates to the 1500s.
This small treasure chest is in excellent condition. It is without chips, cracks or crazing. The paint is hand applied and not machine manufactured, so you will see the occasional paint skips and 'not so perfect' paint application. This lends a wonderful touch of nostalgia. This trinket box is hand-signed DISARMEX on the bottom.
