This is a very rare American silver-plated castor set. It was patented December 1, 1857 by R. Gleason & Sons, Dorchester, Mass. It is known as a magic castor set. The doors to the castor bottles open when a knob on the frame is twisted. These are not original bottles, but they are all matching and of the period. This would be an exceedingly expensive castor set, but for the age damage on one area of the base. See pictures.
