Just so gorgeous! This came from an old estate in Ferdinand, Indiana. I have another one from the same estate which is in a larger frame in a separate listing. I am assuming they are all relatives. This is just stunning. The Victorians really knew how to display their wedding memorabilia.
Gorgeous 1800's Victorian wedding shadowbox. This is the bride's long tulle net wedding veil with her gorgeous large wax tiara head dress which is all these wonderful little wax flowers with stamens and wax flower buds and wax leaves. These have all turned a cream color. There are also some green fabric leaves. The veil is beautifully gathered and display around the couples wedding cabinet photo and you can see how the tiara is on her head. . This is in the original very large and deep Victorian shadowbox frame. Center is white surrounded by ornate designs of gold gilt gesso wood. Maybe a repaint on the bright gilt gold but an older repaint. Not sure. There is only one spot of gesso missing at bottom left corner but hard to tell since all is painted gold. Original old wavy glass.
Condition: Beautiful antique condition. Over 100+ yrs old. No damage to glass. Just the little piece of gesso missing on bottom left hand corner as mentioned above.
Size: Large at 29" tall x 24" wide. Shadowbox part on back is 4" deep. Opening for glass is 19" tall x 15 1/2" wide.
Just gorgeous for your wall.
