This amazing eight row ruby bead necklace weights 277 grams , about 1/2 pound. The rubies alone weight 227 (1,135 carats) grams and the druzy pendant & sterling weigh about 50 grams. The rubies are pinkish-red, and, druzy is a rare "Cobaltian" pink with a faceted pink quartz accent stone. This necklace took forever to make, as it is hard to line-up because of so many rows. But it turned out perfectly. When you wear it, you can carefully put lines "in-order". When you take it off, try not to tangle it up, as it could get tangled forever! Not Good! Despite it being a picky bead necklace, it is so beautiful, it is worth the effort to keep it untangled. It looks so amazing when worn. It is a very impressive. The rubies are out of Africa. They have been treated, dyed, heated, and filled for clarity enhancement. But, they are earth-mined and they are beautiful. In a retail store they cost $10-$20/carat. They were hand carved and are all different shapes. They were a big job to string into rows due to different shapes.. I just love how it turned out so well. These are tiny rubies but, "en-mass", they make a big statement. I wore it all day recently & people just gushed over it!! The silver findings are sterling. This type of necklace is often called a "bib". Bet there are very few bibs made of "rubies"!
