I made this wonderful gem-stone necklace of rare purple sugilite ( from S. Africa) & druzy stones with two marcasite beads for accent. The 2.75" pendant is very rare being composed of shield-shaped chariote, and an ammonite completely gone to pyrite, & another druzy set in sterling. Pyrite was once confused with gold, hence the nickname "fool's gold'. Pyrite has the ability to "pyritize" fossils. This pyrite ammonite fossil is millions of years old (200 million years-Jurassic Park!), completely pyritized, & most exceedingly rare & expensive. Pyrite is so named (mineral of Fire) because it will emit sparks when struck with a hammer ( but don't try this at home!) Druzy stones also take millions of years to get here. This necklace is 20" & comes with matching ear-rings. This necklace is simpler than what I tend to create. This necklace is all about the RARE beads. It has sterling findings. The necklace is GRAND in its simplicity, as beads are so scarce & special. Did I say it is really pretty, too! It looks amazing around your neck. It is an opportunity to wear one of this earth's incredible "wonders of nature"! When this pyrite ammonite's journey began, dinosaurs were walking this earth!
