Australian Art Glass Large and Heavy Reef Incalmo Vase by Artist-Glassblower Chris Pantano
We are very proud to offer a very beautiful tall, large and heavy contemporary art glass vase from the " Reef Incalmo " series by Australian artist Chris Pantano (b. 1948, Australia). The vase is a Millefiori Art Glass Pedestal Vase. It is 11.5 inches high x 5.5 inches wide, and it is signed on the base Chris Pantano. It was hand blown with a flattened foot with internal bubbles and blue dichroic glass. The body contains internal millefiori against a blue-green background and clear lip. Included is the artist's pamphlet statement. Pantano's art glass is fused, cast and blown and his inspiration is the diverse environment of Australia. His work can be found in many public collections, including: Australia's Parliament House in Canberra, the Art Galleries of Queensland, Northern Territory and Wagga Wagga, as well as The National Gallery of Victoria, LaTrobe Regional Gallery, "Collection Ludwig" Hanover Germany; Koganezaki Glass Museum, Japan."
Born in Sydney, 1948, Chris Pantano is a self-taught artist-craftsman working with glass using kiln forming fusing casting and blowing techniques. His reef series is among his most desired and collectable pieces. Our fantastic vase is from this series.
Pantano states that "I have a non-traditional approach to glass as a material through which I create objects, mostly non-functional. My "mood of the day" plays a major role in determining what I will create. This allows me to take full advantage of the various qualities of glass as I coax the material into a form which is truly expressive of my creativity at that moment."
"Much of the inspiration for my work comes not only from the special qualities of the glass itself, but also from the rich diversity of Australia's natural environment the rain forest, the Great Barrier Beef and the outback. My interest in philosophy and the Art/Craft of past and tribal cultures along with my love of drawing, play a major role in the direction and development of my work. I create the designs in layers within the glass much the same as a painter would on his canvas."
Chris has been showcasing his work since 1985 and has been exhibited throughout Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the United States of America.
He has won numerous glass awards and has received National and International recognition. Gallery prices in Australia for this style of glass range from $5,000 to $6,000 US dollars. Our example is even more beautiful than our pictures show. It is in original & excellent condition. Here is an opportunity to have an amazing piece of Chris Pantano glass at a bargain price.
