This very unusual necklace has an enormous ammonite pendant so old that the chambers have filled with pyrite (Fool's Gold) over millions of years (200 million years- Jurassic Age!). The pendant is a whopping 2.5 inches x 2 inches. It is a rare & unusual fossil ammonite whose chambers were pyritized : replaced with pyrite. The necklace is made of emerald beads that are melon-shaped & round. These emeralds have been dyed, filled, and oiled for clarity enhancements. Emeralds like these are low grade B (the lowest), but they still sell for $10-$20/ caret in a retail store. The yellow beads that are citrine that have been "heat-treated" until it is a golden color. Most beads are "treated" for enhancement. No one would want them straight out of the earth. The problem is disclosure. For some reason, jewelers don't like to admit how much stones are treated. "Fool's Gold" makes me laugh. The gold looks real, but it is "pyrite". The emeralds & citrine look so good thanks to "treatment". Looks can be deceiving. But, I did disclose that they were treated! It's up to you to "Kiss-n-Tell" or Not!. The findings & clasps are real sterling. Nature created the pyrite ammonite but it took a very long time ( about one million years!). How special it is to wear one of Natures Wonders!
