This fabulous & very beautiful necklace is made of rare scarce 17mm faceted Peruvian Blue Opals, as well as square Peruvian opals. There are also barrel shaped Peruvian blue opals that are RARE & expensive due to perfect shape & color. Peruvian blue opals are found in the Andes mountains of Peru near San Patricio, Peru. They are genuine opals but without sparkle of Australian opals. These little beads if they could talk would tell of the harrowing truck ride down the winding mountain roads much like Ice Road Truckers. The natives in Peru have known about these opals for hundreds of years but they are very new to our American bead market. These are also two blue topaz faceted tear-drops. Pendant has opal drusy (druzy) & white opal from Australia. There are sterling brushed silver beads. The findings are sterling with ornate clasp. It would probably be nearly impossible for me to get 17 mm faceted opals again. Normal sizes of Peruvian blue opals sell for $800.-to $1,000. per strand now. This necklace is very yummy!!
