St. Bernard dog in a forest of red poppies and ( pachysandra?) . ( I am not sure how to spell this plant.) The sky is a soft sky blue with a muted sandy colored cloud formation . Around the edges there is loop and twist outlining the wool work. This is not exactly a needlepoint, although from a distance it looks like one. I think this was meant to be a small carpet of some kind, maybe even for a dog. I found this in a old antique store in Indiana years ago and I had it framed in a magnificent dark wood frame with plenty of burl tone to it. There is a antiqued filet running on the interior of the frame to help accentuate the old wool work. This is very over scaled and huge. The outside measurements are 74 inches by 42.5 inches ( 6 feet 2 inches by 3 feet by 6 inches). The frame itself is 4.5 inches, including the filet. Please feel free to ask questions or to come and look for yourself. This is a one of a kind and in mint condition!
