Here is a great example of Bohemian art glass. This covered jar or compote is a deep cobalt blue, with a gold cameo frieze of Grecian ladies playing musical instruments and dancing among foliated plants. There are hand cut panels on the stem and finial of this piece. It is marked Haida on the bottom, with the initials AR. This is possibly Adolf Rosche. Johann Oertel was a rival to Moser glass, produced in the Haida region of northern Bohemia. This covered piece stands 11 1/2" tall. It is in good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
