This oval Shaker four-fingered box has its original finish and dates to the late 19th century. It measures 8.25 x 5.5 x 3.25 inches. The top has a water stain and overall there is wear on the surface, but it has a deep red-gold surface color commensurate with its age. The sides are made of maple and the top and bottom are pine. The box is strong and the lid fits perfectly. See the irregularly shaped copper nails and brads; two minor splits can be seen at the brad sites. A water stain is seen inside the box on the bottom, a small green mark is seen on one side, and one brad is missing along the rim of the lid (see photos).
