Chinese Kangxi biscuit porcelain figural grouping of the Hehe Erxian twin brothers seated upon an open work outcrop decorated with gold coins. Finely modeled facial detail includes crows feet laugh lines, pupils in their eyes, individually differentiated teeth, and visible tongues. Loose robes expose round bellies in the front. The backs show off a foliate design on black ground with a sash exposing a yellow under robe, and a crane design on green. The black glaze sets off a hairdo with zigzag bangs. The laughing brothers hold auspicious items including a lotus flower and a Buddha’s hand citron. Perhaps to suggest their union and inseparability, the brothers have only three legs between them. The brothers brings luck, harmony, and unity to close relationships such as marriages or business partnerships.

There has been professional restoration to both brothers’ right hands and necks.
