Vintage Celluloid Dolls Made in Japan, Original Package NRFP c. 1940s
You can tell from my Ruby Lane shop that I am fascinated by mid-20th century dolls and doll clothing still in the original packaging, before "collecting" became a thing and people saved packaging! This pair of fragile, lightweight celluloid dolls has survived and come to us as sold, in the original packaging that very interestingly claims "non-flammable vinyl doll". Hmm. Also fascinating is the price tag which remains on the package which tells us that the original price was 10 cents. You almost never find mid 20th century dime-store dolls in the original package, and yet here are this brother and sister celluloid pair! I am estimating late 1940s through the early 1960s at the latest for the dolls; price seems to put them on the earlier side of this estimate.
The dolls are jointed at the hips and shoulders. The dolls are dressed with matching felt hats. If you like mid- 20th century mint and in package dime store dolls from the 1920s through the 1960s I have a collection of these hard to find dolls that I am selling here exclusively on Ruby Lane.
Mark: Japan on the card in the back of the dolls in the package.
