This is a rare and lovely set of four matching doilies, these have linen centers with hand embroidered floral sprays and cut work details, and hand made bobbin lace borders. There is one large doily measuring 22 1/2" diameter, one medium measuring 11 1/2" diameter, and two small measuring 8" diameter, they would be a perfect group for a dinning room or perhaps in a bedroom on dressers. The linens are in very good order, they date to circa the 1930's, there is a small stain to the center of the largest doily, I imagine where a vase was stood, I have not treated so it may well come out when hand rinsed, there is the odd very tiny break in the lace, but I did not find anything worth note when I examined them. The workmanship on these is quite extraordinary, the bobbin lace is particularly fine with raised "wheat ears" which give three dimensional effect, see detailed photos. If you have been looking for a high quality set of early doilies you should not pass these up, I find this type of exquisitely fine hand work is becoming exceptionally hard to find in such good order.
