A 1950's Selro slide necklace, in a design called The Asian Princess or Thai Girl. The slider, dangles and clasp are in a gilt metal set on a thick flat silver-tone snake type chain, the mounted faces are of an ivory hard plastic with painted details. The main slider depicts Asian princess with earrings, a pointed head dress, black eyes and red lips, beneath her on the slide drops are two Asian ladies with headbands, the maximum wearable length is approx 20".
The necklace design was the work of a Russian immigrant Paul Selenger, who immigrated to the US in 1927, it is not marked for the maker, but this is generally the case with this piece. The condition of the necklace is good, the gilt areas have worn, and there is very minor paint loss to the faces, also the slider is not really tight on the chain, so if you wish to wear as a high choker this may tend to slip.
This is a fine example of a great Mid Century costume necklace by Selro, it is very distinctive and stylish, it will be shipped in a gift box.
