A beautiful vintage cotton chenille hobnail bedspread that was made in around the 1970's by Bates of Maine, USA. Bates began making spreads in 1858, and was the primary American manufacturer of hobnail designs, this is one of the George Washington's Choice patterns which were copies of the patterns that were used at Mt. Vernon (see photo of the label). The bedspread is a very hard to find King Size and measures 106" long by 114" wide, it is a soft ivory white in color and has a 3" knotted fringe border on the sides and bottom. The condition of the coverlet is excellent with no rips, tears or mends, and no significant pulls, it has been freshly washed and is ready to go, it looks both splendid and striking (if I had a larger bed I would definitely keep it). I have marked the shipping on this as freight as it is both large and heavy, I will ship at actual cost which will depend a great deal on the final destination.
