Beautiful Victorian bowl with an ornate variegated edge, hand painted foliage decoration and gilt highlights. The bowl is of the thinnest most delicate porcelain, it is totally translucent when held to the light, it has a highly complex hand cut edge that adds an unexpected and beautiful element to an otherwise classic design. The bowl is probably Continental in origin, it has no makers marks other than some hand painted numbers to the back (see photos) which I imagine are probably the artists code and perhaps the design, it measures 9" diameter by 2 1/2" tall, a nice larger size. This is a lovely piece of antique porcelain in excellent condition with no chips or cracks, and just very slight wear to the gilding, it displays beautifully and would look wonderful in a cabinet or on a sideboard.
