This is a late Victorian centerpiece that will carry the most ornate table to another level, a wonderful 9 1/2" tall comport, with a wide shallow bowl measuring a mighty 8 5/8" diameter, supported on a long hand drawn glass stem with hand zipper cutting to each of the four raised and twisted sections. The whole comport is smothered in hand applied gilt decoration, the bowl has bows, swags and stars to the outer bowl, with inner garlands of small gilt droplets, and a golden star to the center, and the bow and droplet motif is repeated to the foot, it is not signed but I think it is probably French in origin. This is a superb quality antique comport, it came in from a very old and prestigious local estate, along with a very long service of glassware that I will also be listing. The comport has been wonderfully looked after, it has no chips, cracks or other issues, and shows just the most minuet amount of age wear. This is antique glass for the advanced collector, it would grace the finest table, or be a wonderful addition to a cabinet of fine antique glass.
