The finest of purses, of micro petite point, with the most delicate shading and finely delineated technique. The purse dates to the very early 1900's, and has a beautiful filigree and enameled frame set with d cabochon glass stones. The bag still carries the interior label, showing it was made in Austria (as were most of these high quality period bags).
Each side is worked with a pastoral scene (see photos), with a couple sitting in a romantic garden ruin. The condition is good for the age, there are some small worn patches on the base corners, the catch has slight distortion and there are some fairly minor losses to the finish on the stones and to the enamel, the interior silk has splitting and shatter, but is still essentially intact, these issues do not affect the function of the bag at all, and are virtually invisible when displayed, see photos. The bag measures 7 1/4" tall by 6" wide not including the gilt carrying chain, this is a superb bag for occasional use, or to add to a collection.
