An exquisite ornate antique brass matchbox holder and pipe ashtray, this was made in 1900, date engraved on bottom, with the makers name (which is sadly illegible). The holder has a beautiful and very detailed embossed style with nice scroll work and three cherubs to each side, charmingly the bottom cherub is smoking a pipe. The matchbox holder is set on a central pedestal in the middle, with the ashtray as the surrounding base, this has nice patina from age, it could be polished brighter if desired. Good functional size at approx 4 1/2" high by 4 3/4" diameter, there is very slight distortion to the central pedestal (from to back) which is greatly magnified by the camera, otherwise good order with just age appropriate wear, see pictures as part of the description. This is a lovely antique match holder to add to a collection of early smoking items or for use with a favorite pipe.
