Lovely circa 1940's bias cut chemise or petticoat, with deep lace panels, ruched bust and double straps. The chemise is of faux silk (a rayon), and has no labels, it is too small for the manikin, so it is pinned, the actual measurements are approx : 17" across bust flat, across 14" waist flat, 20" across hips flat, 54" in length from top of shoulder strap to bottom of the garment, there is some horizontal "give" to the garment due to the bias cutting. There are some fairly minor condition issues, there is a small area which shows slight discoloration and distress to the fabric, it looks as if it has had too hot an iron, there is also a minor pin hole in the same area and a couple scattered in the skirt, see photos for details. Overall the chemise is still very sturdy and beautiful and displays well.
