The Bostonians by Henry James, published by The Modern Library NY in 1956. 1st Modern Library Edition. Hard cover with dust jacket. Introduction by Irving Howe. Minor wear to the dust jacket, the book however is in outstanding condition (like new). Binding is tight, no marks or tears, see photos for detailed condition. Total of 464 pages, measures 7 1/4" x 5", great mid century styling.

The Bostonians is a novel by Henry James, first published as a serial in The Century Magazine in 1885–1886 and then as a book in 1886. This bittersweet tragicomedy centers on an odd triangle of characters: Basil Ransom, an unbending political conservative from Mississippi; Olive Chancellor, Ransom's cousin and a zealous Boston feminist; and Verena Tarrant, a pretty protege of Olive's in the feminist movement.
