A circa 1900 antique stoneware two tone jug by The Bruce & West MFG Co., which still has the original "Caramel" label attached.

This is a great crock in the classic American 2 color style formed of glossy coffee brown and sand slip glazes. The paper label has some wear but the contents and merchant details are still easily readable. The top spout would have originally been sealed with a large cork stopper. These types of jugs and other stoneware containers were lent to retailers by the product manufacturers so that they could be reused and refilled. The jug is a good size at approx. 11 3/4" Tall x 6 1/2" across base.

The crock is in very good condition with no cracks, chips or repairs, it does show a variety of manufacturing marks typical of early kiln processing - see photos. I Acquired this piece from a local estate about 15 years ago and have shown it in my kitchen with other antique crocks, it is a good size and highly display worthy.
