A.S.R. Heritage table lighter, manufactured by the American Safety Razor at 315 Jay Street Brooklyn New York, between 1949 and 1953. The lighter is copper with rhodium feet and black Bakelite handle. The lighter insert has an automatic "light switch action" which stays lit without being held. The rhodium parts are pitted, the copper has normal patina for the age, lighting mechanism works properly. Very good overall condition, rare lighter.
The advert in the 1950 New York Times stated " Decorators say it's the last word in table torches for living room, library or den! This magnificent A.S.R. Heritage lighter is at home in any setting, traditional or modern. And what a wonderfully different lighter it is! No other like it. Only the Heritage has a handle - you can actually serve a light!" What more can one say...........
