Aarre & Krogh are Danish mid-twentieth century silversmiths, based in Randers, a market town in Jutland, Denmark. The workshop was in operation from 1949 to 1990 and became known for highly stylized Modernist jewelry.
The craftsmanship and quality of A & K jewelry is second to none, and their work continues to be popular today amongst collectors of fine silver jewelry. This Sterling brooch is a superb piece and features stylized modern leaves. It was made in the mid 1950's and is of super workmanship and of a three dimensional design.
It is hallmarked STERLING DENMARK in a circle with A&K for Aarre & Krogh in the center. The catch is a secure locking C-catch and is original. The brooch measures 2 5/16 inch across 2 inches high and is 14.3 grams in weight. The brooch is in wonderful condition with only very gentle vintage wear and has great patina.
This is a great Modernist piece - and wearable sculpture.
