This is fine 1940s Art Deco era pendant with a simple setting in silver framing a superb rectangular spinel stone. The faceted stone is blue green to sea green in color ~ sparkling and wonderful. As natural green spinel stones are very rare I would assume this to be a lab created stone. Synthetic spinel has been produced by the Verneuil process since about 1909. The bale is stamped 835 indicating the silver quality, lower than sterling but the accepted standard in Germany in this century.
Dimensions : the stone measures 5/8 inch in length x just under 1/2 inch wide; The pendant is 1 1/4 inches including the bale; weight is 5.7 grams. The silver shows only very gentle wear and the stone is in superb condition.
This is a fine and very collectible pendant in a great design.
